Welcome to Friends of the North Fork of the Shenandoah River's Site...

Friends of the North Fork of the Shenandoah River is a grassroots citizens' group that relies on people like you... whether you live here in teh basin of the North Fork of the Shenandoah River, or you just care about it.

Each spring we hold an Annual meeting to share our accomplishments for the year as well as the upcoming goals that we are setting. Our 2011 Annual report consists of all these items and can help you understand our organization better. For the past 6 years, in the Fall we host our annual Fish Fry Fund raising event where the past three years we have enlisted local artistic talent to create items for us to sell to raise funds to help us raise awareness of the many issues that the Shenandoah River faces both now and in the future.

Our contact information is at the bottom of each page on this site and we would love to have you join us and get involved to help our efforts to protect our river.

Garden Tour in Strasburg
Helping Friends of the North Fork

One of our sponsors, Natural Art Garden Center, hosted a garden tour in our honor a week ago and helped Friends help the river while promoting rain gardens. The tour was at the wonderful garden of Craig Morris & Mike Marcheterre's in Strasburg that NAGC worked on. Friends got the proceeds from the event and Craig and Mike got to show off their rain garden and vegetable garden in full glory. Lynne Phillips from NAGC, was on hand to answer any technical questions about the rain garden and their work and help others see how easy it is to think about how you can harvest water and keep the pollutants out of our river. The Winchester News was there too and you can read their article about the event here.

Thanks so much Lynne, for all you and Natural Art Garden Center does for Friends of the North Fork and for the Shenandoah River. AND, thanks to Craig and Mike for sharing your lovely gardens and the proceeds from the event.
