Friends of the North Fork regularly hold clean up days where volunteers come out to help clean up a spot on the Shenandoah. Every little bit helps!

We have been known to remove almost entire rooms of furniture from the river banks as well as old tires, construction waste and items that could’ve been recycled!!!

If you have a site that needs work or would like to volunteer please contact us at the link below.

On March 3rd, 2007 we had 12 people helping to collect 2420 pounds of trash from a Mt. Jackson location
There were bottles and all sorts of debris on this floating mass of stuff.
Please don’t fall between those logs....
Two of our volunteers picking up trash
Carolyn K. picking up trash.
We have to get this tire! This was one of about 20+ tires that we collected from this location.
What a HUGE tire!
We had to clean out the dirt from the inside.
On its way out.
Dragging it out with the truck.

Loading the big tire for transport.
This toilet is slippery
Yuck!
Mary, you get the bowl and I’ll try the tank.
Big Heap that we had to leave behind.
Maybe we can come back for some of this on another cleanup day!!
Roofing, bicycles, a television set, fencing, wood, you name it it was in this pile of trash.
We did get the toilet and this is it being loaded on the truck for transport.
And yet another view of the big heap.
The whole group minus the photographer.
